Owner, teaboy & bottle washer, Leo presides over the majority of the sessions at the studio.
Has spent most of his life in & out of recording studios (first
experience was probably at 3 yrs old) as his father Tony Knight was a
much in-demand drummer in the late 60's - mid 70's and as a
lyricist/songwriter thereafter working at the likes of Island Records,
The Manor, Chipping Norton, The Townhouse where young Leo was
constantly reminded to keep his fingers to himself.
He took up playing drums from an early age and after a routine formal
music education (brass & wind bands; orchestras & other
ensembles) went the other way and played in many rock and blues bands
in and around London, notably with Jess Roden in The Humans and Marcus
Malone's Redhouse as well as numerous recording sessions as a freelance player.
All this experience led to a small 8 track studio in a spare room with
gear borrowed from his mates and after producing many local
bands he enrolled at the (in)famous SAE Institute Of Technology.
After graduating with distinction he was the only student from the
entire year to be invited back as staff member. Getting part-time work
at River Studios in south London got him commercial exposure and within
a few months the head engineer departed giving Leo his full
recommendation as replacement. Leo spent two years at River under
the management & guidance of Joel Monger (whose credits include
Bush, Idlewild & Bronski Beat) working on albums for likes of
Killing Miranda and tracks for Steve Winwood.
Leo & his wife moved to Devon and soon after started planning his
own studio, and after almost a year of searching found the Old Coach
House hidden away at the back of an estate agent's website. 'Mojo' is
named after his old black cat (also known as 'Mofo' when sick on the
carpet).
Leo continues to work professionally as a musician working for dance
band
Riviera Five-O and with 'mature' original rock outfit
Backlash.
He also appears with newly formed
Mr. Men and the occasional guest
spot with
The Main Street Band.

listen for a change!

'Wirehead').
Please contact us if you are interested in Ray engineering or producing your next studio project.
